Our Great Game - The Photographic History Of Australian Football

These pictures are from Our Great Game - The Photographic History Of Australian Football by John Murray. I have simply scanned these out of the book, so I apologise for the quality and also contravening three kinds of copyright etc, but - how good are these photographs? I had never seen any of them before (although the last one I am told is well known).

You can buy the book here.  You can buy some kind of new fangled e-book i-Pad version here. It is published by Slattery Media Group, and all I can say is buy it, it is tremendous.

Richmond players almost tearing coach Tom Hafey in half, after winning 1969 Grand Final.
Essendon's John Coleman leaving the tribunal, the week before the 1951 finals series began. He has just been suspended for four weeks for striking, and will miss the Grand Final.
Johnny Greening of Collingwood is carried off after being felled behind play by St Kilda's Jim O'Dea, 1972. His teammates feared that he was dead. Previously an out-and-out champion, he didn't play football again until 1974, and only played another 9 games before leaving the VFL.

St Kilda's triple Brownlow Medallist, Ian Stewart.

Left: Gary Lyon of Melbourne gets a facial massage from David Rhys Jones of Carlton.
Right: Paul Salmon and Tony Buhagiar of Essendon.

Collingwood's Billy Picken comes off the ground after the 1980 Grand Final. Richmond won by a record margin. This was the last of five Grand Finals for Picken, and he was on the losing side in every one.
Ian Stewart again, now coach of South Melbourne, 1977. Celebrations at the final siren as they defeat Hawthorn in a roster match.
St Kilda's Nick Riewoldt and Justin Koschitzke, "bottling it" after the 2009 Grand Final loss to Geelong.
